Welcome to Friday workout warriors. This full body and core workout will get your heart rate up and leave you feeling amazing. We’re kicking off block 1 with drinking bird, which is one of the absolute best exercises you can do for your back, posture and even flexibility. It seems like a simple exercise, but you want to make sure you’re keeping your legs, back and upper body engaged. Once you master this variation, you can move on to one-legged exercises that will help strengthen your legs and feet. That might sound weird, but strong feet will prevent plantar fasciitis, ankle pain and other pain in your legs. Be sure to keep your feet planted straight and really focus on keeping the weight on them as you push your butt backwards for this move. Next up are kneeling side planks. These are amazing exercises for your obliques, those ab muscles on the side of your body that are sometimes hard to work. Be sure to push your hand into the ground to give you stability and as you’re holding yourself up far enough on your hips to keep a straight line from your knees to your pelvis to the top of your head. Balance is key in this exercise, so modify to your elbow if you need. We’ll wrap up block 1 with step jacks that will keep this whole exercise active by really pushing up your arms and stepping out your legs. If you’re not doing them right it can seem super easy to just step back in forth, but you want to make sure you’re keeping those arms active and really using those glutes to push your legs out. If you’ve been doing step jacks, I want to challenge you to try a few jumping jacks –– remember not to stomp your feet as you come down and take it slowly if you’re having difficulties. For block 2 we will do explosive couch pushup! These are basically upright push ups that use a couch to get a really awesome explosion that will help prepare you for more challenging push ups. You should feel this a lot in the shoulders and triceps, and the key is to EXPLODE through your arms and with your exhale. Next up is kneeling plank. People tend to get lazy with this exercise but you want to keep your body active by keeping your glutes squeezed to bring that pelvis forward which will challenge your lower body. Focus on tension in your abdominals by thinking about dragging your elbow towards your belly button to make it difficult. The kneeling plank shouldn’t be super easy, you should really feel it challenging your whole body. Then we'll do kneeling slide. This is a really great push up variation that works your glutes, shoulders and much of your upper body. You want to make sure you’re squeezing your glutes as you push forward and press through your shoulders by almost pushing the ground away. We’ll wrap up block 2 with tabletops. If you have neck pain or back pain from poor posture, these can really help you. Make sure you open your chest and squeeze those shoulder blades back and together to stop bad posture and make sure to dig through your heels to activate the movement. You don’t want to use your arms to push up, but use your legs. Keep that chest open and squeeze those shoulder blades back and together. This will help your posture. Remember that you’re pushing through your heels to activate the movement, and it’s your legs that are making it happen, not your arms. Block 3 is all about burpee walkouts. Sit back through your heels as your hands go to the ground. Use your hands to rock back to your heels. Keep your feet flat. They get your arms and legs doing a lot of work, and they’re also great cardio. When you come down, think about it like you’re bending down to grab something with perfect form, then step each leg back, walk them back up to squatting and stand back up. If you want to ease into squat thrusts or full burpees, try adding a hop at the end of each walkouts. Really put some power behind your legs as you walk them out and then back in. If you haven’t yet, try jumping your legs back forward or jumping up and you finish.
